Dog Deshedding & Dematting in Meridian, ID

Less Loose Fur, No Painful Mats, One Comfortable Pup

Shedding is a natural process for every dog, but when loose fur takes over your house or mats start pulling at your dog's skin, it's time to bring in the right tools and an experienced hand.

At Classi K-9 Clips, our deshedding and dematting services are built around your dog's coat type and comfort, not a rushed brush-out.

Why Dog Owners in Meridian Trust Us With Their Pet's Coat

Removing mats and heavy shedding safely takes patience, the right dematting tools, and a real understanding of coat type. That's exactly what you get with Classi K-9 Clips.

Owner Shirl Schaeffer is a Nationally Certified Master Groomer (NCMG) with more than 40 years of hands-on grooming experience. In four decades behind the comb and slicker brush, she has groomed just about every coat imaginable, from the dense double coats of Huskies and Shepherds to the soft, coarse, and fine coats of Poodles, Bichon Frises, and Wheaten Terriers.

She and her team keep up with ongoing industry certifications, so your dog gets safe, current grooming techniques at every visit, not outdated habits.

We know that a coat full of tangles or serious mats isn't just annoying to look at. It can mean real discomfort, skin irritation, and even pain for your dog. Every appointment is handled gently, with your pet's comfort always coming first.

Our Deshedding Process

If your dog is blowing their coat every spring, or new hair just never seems to stop coming, our de-shedding treatments go well beyond daily brushing at home.

Undercoat and Topcoat Deshedding

We work through the topcoat to reach the undercoat, where most loose fur and dead hair actually build up around the hair follicle.

The Right Tools For Your Dog's Coat

From slicker brushes to furminator-style deshedding tools, we match the tool to your dog's specific coat type, whether that's a long coat, a double coat, or something in between.

Built For Double-Coated Dogs

Double coated breeds shed differently than single coated ones, and we adjust our technique so the process is thorough without being time consuming or stressful for your pup.

Conditioner and Coat Treatments

We use quality conditioner and grooming products that help loosen trapped fur and support healthy hair growth between visits.

Our Dematting Services

Mats don't stay small for long. Around the ears, collar, legs, and tail, debris and loose fur can quickly break down into tight knots sitting right against the skin.

A Careful, Honest Evaluation

Before we begin, we check how close each mat sits to the skin. Some can be safely combed and brushed out; others are too serious to remove without causing pain.

Safe, Gentle Dematting

For workable tangles, we use professional dematting tools and detangling spray to gently separate the fur, keeping your dog as comfortable as possible throughout the process.

When A Shorter Cut is Kinder

If matting is severe, a short "comfort clip" is sometimes the safest and least painful option. We will always talk it through with you first rather than surprise you.

A Grooming Schedule That Works For Your Dog

After your visit, we'll walk you through simple brushing routines and maintenance tips so tangles don't turn into serious mats again before your next appointment.

Decades of Real, Hands-On Experience

Shirl's grooming career began in 1987. She taught at Tara Lara K-9 Academy, a respected grooming school, for three years, and earned her Master Groomer certification through the National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA) in 1990.

She has competed nationally, shown American Cocker Spaniels, and continues to specialize in breeds known for tricky coats, including Cocker Spaniels, Kerry Blue Terriers, Wheaten Terriers, Bichon Frises, and Poodles.

That kind of experience means your dog's deshedding or dematting appointment is in the hands of a true professional groomer, someone who has seen just about every coat type, breed, and tangle life can throw at her.
